Master Chief Erik H. Reed

Master Chief Erik Reed is a native of Piqua, Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1998. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Airman Apprentice Training School, Great Lakes, Illinois. He holds an Associate of Science in Marketing and Sales from Coastline Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 172, Gray Group.
 
Reed’s sea assignments include F/A-18 Hornet squadron Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136; nuclear powered aircraft carriers USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), where he served as the G-2 Armory Division leading petty officer and was selected to chief petty officer in 2009; USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), where he served as the weapons department leading chief petty officer (LCPO) and was selected to senior chief petty officer in 2014 and master chief petty officer in 2018; and the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), where he served as the weapons department LCPO and assistant ship’s maintenance manager. 
 
His shore assignments include Navy Recruiting District, Akron, Ohio, where he served as a production recruiter and a recruiter-in-charge; and the Naval Test Wing, Atlantic, in Patuxent River, Maryland, where he served as the ordnance LCPO.
 
Reed is currently serving as the command senior enlisted leader and command managed equal opportunity instructor for Navy Service Support Advanced Training Command, Dam Neck Annex, Virginia Beach, Va.
 
He has earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist.  His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
