Captain Brad L. Arthur

Capt. Brad Arthur, a native of Lemoore, California, graduated in 1993 from The Citadel with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science-National Security Strategy and International Affairs and earned his commission in 1995 through Officer Candidate School. He earned his designation as a joint qualified officer and his master’s in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
 
At sea, he served as line division, assistant operations, and quality assurance officer with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (HS) 15, assigned to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) and USS George Washington (CVN 73); assistant navigator aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76); department head maintenance officer with HS-5, assigned to CVW-7 aboard Dwight D. Eisenhower; commanding officer of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 9, deploying with CVW-8 aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), where the command earned the Chief of Naval Operations Battle “E” Award, Safety “S” Award, and the 2012 Retention Excellence Award; commodore of Commander, Amphibious Squadron 5, deploying to U.S. 7th Fleet and U.S. 5th Fleet with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard USS Boxer (LHD 4); and commander of Multi-National Amphibious Task Force for Rim of the Pacific 2019. 
 
His shore tours include Seahawk weapons and tactics instructor with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Wing, U.S. Atlantic Fleet (Weapons and Tactics Unit); assistant deputy director for operations and global strike advisor with Operations Team Three, National Military Command Center with the Joint Staff; helicopter commander detailer with PERS-43, Navy Personnel Command; officer in charge of Navy National Reconnaissance Office Coordination Group-Sea Operations Detachment, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Space Field Activity; and commanding officer of Naval ROTC Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
 
Arthur assumed command of Naval Aviation Schools Command in July 2023.
 
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (two awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), and various unit and campaign awards. Arthur was presented the 2012 and 2013 Commander, Naval Air Forces Navy and Marine Association Peer Leadership Award.
