Captain Brian Turney

Capt. Brian Turney graduated in 1998 from Ohio State University and earned his commission through Officer Candidate School. 
 
His operational tours include USS Norfolk (SSN 714); USS West Virginia Gold (SSBN 736); USS Albany (SSN 753); and USS Chicago (SSN 721). 
 
His shore tours include Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit Ballston Spa; Naval War College; Submarine Group 7; operations department head at Navy Warfare Development Command; and assessment team lead at Naval Safety Command. 
 
He reported to Trident Training Facility Kings Bay as commanding officer in December 2023.

Lapse in Appropriations: The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025.
Military personnel will continue in normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
