Capt. Christopher A. May

Capt. Christopher A. May, a native of Ilion, New York, enlisted in the Navy in January 1992 and completed Electronics Technician (ET) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois. In February 2004, he was commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer Program. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration and an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Naval Post Graduate School.

His enlisted assignments include Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Eastern Pacific (NCTAMS EASTPAC), Wahiawa, Hawaii, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Diego Garcia, USS Harry S Truman (CVN 75), and at ET “A” School at Service School Command Great Lakes, Illinois.

At sea and abroad May served in operational assignments with USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), USS Harry S Truman (CVN 75), Task Force Hurricane Baghdad, Iraq as battle captain/tactical action officer and weapons officer, Carrier Strike Group Eleven, Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) as the combat systems maintenance officer, and USS Nimitz (CVN 68) as combat systems maintenance officer and then combat systems officer.

Ashore, he served in Center for Surface Combat Systems Great Lakes as Director of Apprentice Technical Training, Navy Recruiting District New York, where he successfully met all assigned medical recruiting goals, department head of Consolidated Maintenance (N6) Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station (NCTAMS) Pacific, and commanding officer of Mobile Mine Assembly Group, San Diego, California.  He served as executive officer Naval Station, Great Lakes, Illinois, before reporting to Surface Combat Systems Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois January 2025.

He qualified Master Training Specialist, Surface and Information Warfare Officer, and his decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Navy Commendation Medal with (5 awards), Navy Achievement Medal with (7 awards), Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Navy Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), and various other unit awards. While at sea, May was selected as a three-time Commander Naval Air Forces recipient of the Navy and Marine Association (NMA) Leadership Award (2014, 2017, 2020).
