Command Master Chief Willis is a native of Phoenix, AZ. He enlisted in the United States Navy in June 1997. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he completed Operations Specialist “A” school training, Virginia Beach, VA.

Fleet operational assignments include USS MITSCHER (DDG-57), Norfolk VA; Operations Department Leading Petty Officer and Anti-Submarine/Surface Tactical Air Controller onboard USS NICHOLAS (FFG-47), Norfolk, VA; Operations Intelligence Leading Chief Petty Officer and Senior Anti-Submarine/Surface Tactical Air Controller onboard PCU USS CORONADO LCS CREW 204 (LCS-4), San Diego, CA and USS HOWARD (DDG-83), Yokosuka, Japan.

Ashore assignments include Secretary of the Navy and Administration, Office of the Under Secretary of the Navy Staff’s, Washington, DC; Leading Chief Petty Officer at Navy Reserve Center Oklahoma City, OK and ASW/ASUW/SW Instructor Assessor at Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific (ATG MIDPAC), Honolulu, HI.

In 2022 he was selected to the Command Senior Chief Program.  His Command Master Chief assignments include Command Master Chief for USS GREEN BAY (LPD-20) Major Command Tour, Sasebo, Japan from November 2022 to September 2024.  Master Chief is currently serving as the Command Master Chief at Surface Combat Center Training Command Great Lakes, Great Lakes, IL.

Master Chief Willis is a graduate of the U.S Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer’s Academy (Class 185), U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 203), CMC/COB (Class 22130), and Advanced CMDCM course of instruction.  Earned Afloat Training and Master Training Specialist and Enlisted Surface Warfare designations.
 
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and various unit campaign awards.  He is married with one child.
