Chief Aviation Machinist’s Mate Jason Villarreal, a native of Edinburg, Texas, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 2001. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Naval Aviation Technical Training Center Pensacola, Florida where he completed Aviation Machinist “A” school in November 2001.
His operational assignments include a tour with Patrol Squadron (VP) 8, where he completed multiple detachments and deployments to Puerto Rico, the Mediterranean and Kadena, Japan; Bureau of Personnel Sea Duty Component (BUPERS SDC) Dallas, where he completed multiple detachments, was the Junior Sailor of the Year, and was advanced to first class petty officer; VP-26 where he deployed to Isa, Bahrain, was selected to chief petty officer in August 2015, transitioned from the P-3C to the P-8A, deployed to Kadena, Japan, qualified safe-for-flight, and was the line division leading chief petty officer and maintenance control supervisor.
Villarreal’s shore tours include Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 24, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; and Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Jacksonville, Florida, where he was a “C” school instructor, qualifying as a Master Training Specialist, was the 2014 CNATT Mid-grade Instructor of the Year, and NETC Instructor of the Year finalist.
Villarreal reported for instructor duty to CNATT Detachment Eglin in January 2019 where he serves as the Navy senior enlisted leader.
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (five awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
