Commander Marcus A. Creighton

Cmdr. Marcus Creighton, a native of Lancaster, South Carolina, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1987 as an aviation apprentice and advanced through the ranks to aviation ordnanceman chief petty officer. He commissioned through the limited duty officer program in 2002. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development in 2017. He received his Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University in 2018.
 
Creighton’s operational assignments include tours as an aviation apprentice, aviation ordnanceman and aviation ordnance officer aboard USS Forrestal (CV 59); with Fighter Squadron (VF-101) and VF-103; aboard USS Nassau (LHA 4); with VF- 213; with the staff of Commander, Fighter Wing Atlantic; aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and USS Ronald Reagan (CV 76); with Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 137; with the staff of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command; and aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). During these tours, he participated in multiple campaigns, including Operations Desert Shield, Southern Watch, Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
 
Ashore, Creighton served director, Ordnance Handling Safety Assist Team Pacific and Weapons Safety Assist Team for Commander, Naval Air Force, Pacific; officer in charge, Navy Munitions Command, CONUS West Division, Detachment North Island; and executive officer,
 Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Norfolk .
 
Creighton currently serves as commanding officer of the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Norfolk.
 
During his distinguished naval career, he earned the enlisted aviation warfare and surface warfare designations. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Good Conduct Medal (three awards) and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
