Master Chief Steven J. Gill

Master Chief Petty Officer Steven J. Gill, a native of Georgetown, Guyana, joined the Navy in June 1992 and attended Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois. After successful completion, he stayed in Great Lakes and attended airman apprentice general skills training.
His operational and at-sea assignments include service with Patrol Squadron (VP) 23, VP-8, VP-46, and VP-26; aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 5: and aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) again shortly after his selection to master chief petty officer.
On shore duty, his tours include Fleet Aviation Specialized Operational Training Group, Atlantic Fleet Det. Brunswick, Maine, as a Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape (SERE) School instructor, where he earned his master training specialist qualification; and the Naval Air Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Florida, as an “A” school instructor.
He reported as the senior enlisted leader for the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Norfolk in July 2018.
His personal military decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various other personal and unit awards.
