Commander Anthony C. Barber

Cmdr. Anthony C. Barber is a native of Binghamton, New York and a 2001 graduate of Grantham University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Project Management. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration in Logistics from Trident University graduating in 2011, and is a qualified Professional Aviation Maintenance Duty Officer. He reported to Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida in March 1992 and became an avionics technician in 1993 before being selected for a commission through the Limited Duty Officer program.
 
His enlisted tours of duty include Attack Squadron (VA) 128 “Golden Intruders,” Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) and USS George Washington (CVN 73) AIMD.
 
Upon commissioning, his operational tours include serving as quality assurance officer and support equipment division officer for Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) based at Yokosuka, Japan; assistant maintenance officer and maintenance material control officer (MMCO) with Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 124 “Bear Aces”; MMCO with Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 213 “Blacklions,” who were awarded for two consecutive years the Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Golden Wrench Award; and as carrier air wing maintenance officer for Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1.
 
Ashore, he served as airframes division officer and power plants production officer at Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic, qualifying as a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt. Barber also served as the readiness officer for Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic, support equipment class desk officer, carrier strike group readiness officer at Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic; and as executive officer of Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Oceana.

He assumed the duties as commanding officer, CNATTU Oceana in December 2020.

Barber has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), nine sea service ribbons and various unit and campaign awards.
