Commander Richard B. Killian

Cmdr. Killian, a native of Hickory, North Carolina, enlisted in the U. S. Navy in February 1987 as aviation antisubmarine warfare technician. In 1997, he was promoted to chief petty officer, and in 2000, he was commissioned under the Limited Duty Officer program.
 
His enlisted assignments include Naval Aviation Technical Training Center Millington, Tennessee; Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 40, Naval Air Facility (NAF) Mayport, Florida; HSL-46, NAF Mayport, Florida; Instructor Training School, Naval Technical Training Center Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida; HSL 49, Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island, San Diego, California.
 
His commissioned officer assignments include USS Boxer (LHD 4), Naval Station San Diego, California; Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) 11, NAS North Island; Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21, NAS North Island; Commander Strike Fighter Wing Pacific (CSFWP) Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department, Fleet Readiness Center West, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 146, CSFWP, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9, VFA-122, all at NAS Lemoore, California; and as 
executive officer, Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Whidbey Island, Washington .
 
Currently, Killian serves as the commanding officer, CNATTU Whidbey Island.
 
His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) and various unit and service awards.
