Master Chief Naval Aircrewman Mechanical Jon D. Wooten

Master Chief Naval Aircrewman Mechanical Jon D. Wooten, a native of Hickory, North Carolina, enlisted in the Navy in March 1992. Following basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida, he completed Naval Aircrew Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Pensacola, Florida, and then attended Aviation Electrician’s Mate “A” School at Naval Air Technical Training Center Millington, Tennessee, graduating in May 1993. He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 58, Red and is qualified as a naval aircrew warfare and naval aviation warfare specialist.
 
Wooten’s duty assignments include the “Globemasters” of Fleet Logistic Support (VR) 56 stationed at Naval Air Station (NAS) Norfolk, Virginia; “Islanders” of VR-61 stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington; “Redwolves” of Helicopter Combat Support Special Squadron (HCS) 4/Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 84 stationed at NAS Norfolk; and “Saints” of Fighter Squadron Composite (VFC) 13 stationed at NAS Fallon, Nevada, where he served as command senior chief. During his tour with the “Totems” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 69 at NAS Whidbey Island, he was promoted to master chief and served as the maintenance master chief petty officer and interim command master chief.
 
Wooten reported to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Whidbey Island in September 2019, where he currently serves as the command senior enlisted leader.
 
His personal awards include the Air Medal (eight awards), Combat Action Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various other personal, campaign, and unit awards.
