Command Master Chief Frederick J. Martinez

Master Chief Martinez, a native of Fresno, California, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reported to Recruit Training Command in February 1994. He arrived at Naval Construction Training Center (NCTC) in June 1994, where he attended Utilitiesman “A” School. He later completed Refrigeration “C” school and received the 6504 NEC. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University.
 
His operational assignments included Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 3, where he deployed to Rota, Spain, San Diego, and Bahrain; Construction Battalion Unit 406, Lemoore, California; NMCB 4 as crew leader, project supervisor, and battalion quality control chief; NMCB 40, where he held the positions of convoy security elements commander, battalion training chief, assistant officer in charge, and the battalion operations chief and deployed to Marmal, Afghanistan; and Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303, transferring to NMCB 3 where he served as B5, A5, and assistant officer in charge in Cebu, Philippines.
 
His training tours included NCTC, Port Hueneme, California, where he served as the utilitiesman schoolhouse director and Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering as the N51.
 
Martinez was selected for the Command Master Chief (CMC) Program in 2017 and checked into NMCB 5 as the CMC in May 2017.
 
Currently, Martinez serves as the CMC of the Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering, Port Hueneme, California.
 
Martinez is Seabee Combat Warfare and Expeditionary Warfare qualified. His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Navy Unit Commendation, Battle Efficiency “E” ribbon (eight awards), Good Conduct Medal (six awards), National Defense Service Medal (two awards), Iraqi Campaign Medal with EGA, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service ribbon (six awards), NATO Medal, Expert Rifleman Medal, and Sharpshooter Award.
