David G. Lu

Lieutenant Commander David G. Lu retired from the Navy in March of 2005. Upon his retirement he became the Executive Director for The Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering.
 
Lieutenant Commander Lu was born in Okinawa, Japan in December 1953. He entered the U.S. Navy in March 1978 as a Seaman Recruit. He was selected as a Chief Petty Officer in September of 1989, and in July 1994 he was commissioned as an Ensign through the Limited Duty Officer Program.
 
In May of 1978, Construction Utilitiesman (UTCN) Lu reported to his first assignment with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FIVE as a member of Bravo Co, followed on with tours to Naval Support Forces Antarctica, Port Hueneme, California; Naval Support Forces, Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territories; Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 302, Subic Bay, Philippines; Mobile Construction Battalion Three, Port Phoneme, CA; Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, California; and Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Western Pacific, Guam where he served as the Department Chief.
 
In August 1994, after his commissioning, Ensign Lu reported to Navy Public Works Center, Pearl Harbor, as an Activity Civil Engineer. Enroute, he attended the Civil Engineer Corps Officer School at Port Hueneme, California. Ensign Lu was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade in July 1996, and then reported to The Commander, Third Naval Construction Brigade as the CENTCOM War Plans Officer.
 
July 1998 Lieutenant Lu received orders to report to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FOUR where he served as the Battalion Training Officer and DFT OIC to Haiti. February 2000, Lieutenant Lu reported for his second tour of duty to Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, California, as the Director of Training and Operations Officer. Lieutenant Lu was promoted to the grade of Lieutenant Commander where he completed his final tour of duty as the 31ST Seabee Readiness Group, Operations Officer.
 
Lieutenant Commander Lu is qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer and Master Training Specialist. He is authorized to wear the following awards; Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Six Awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 Awards), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation (4 Awards), Good Conduct Medal (3 Awards), Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Antarctic Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal, Sea Service Ribbon (6 Awards), Overseas Service Ribbon (10 Awards), Expert Rifle Medal, and the Pistol Ribbon.
