Commander Greggory A. Benton

Cmdr. Gregg Benton, a native of South Carolina, graduated in 2000 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor’s degree in oceanography. He also holds a Master of Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.
 
His tours of duty include Bravo and Echo Company commander/officer in charge, Detail Souda Bay, Naval Mobile Contrucion Battalion 7; team leader for Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological Defense; design director and project manager, U.S. Naval Academy; aide to the Chief of Civil Engineers; assistant operations officer for Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC); public works officer for Naval Support Activity Mid-South; Seabee enlisted community manager; chief of facilities for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center; and expeditionary readiness branch head for Chief of Naval Operations, Fleet Readiness Division.
 
Benton is a qualified Seabee combat warfare officer, registered professional engineer in Maryland, certified project management professional, certified healthcare facilities manager, a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps, and holds Level III certification in contracting, facilities engineering, and public works.
 
Benton’s personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Joint Achievement Medal (with bronze oak leaf cluster), and Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal.
 
Benton was selected as the NAVFAC Mid-West 2013 Military Engineer of the Year.
