Mr. Jon Houser is the Executive Director of the Submarine Learning Center (SLC), a position he assumed in July 2006. The Submarine Learning Center develops and coordinates future undersea warfare training solutions and allocates resources to execute undersea warfare training across all U.S. Submarine Force fleet concentration areas.
Mr. Houser retired from the U.S. Navy in 2005, having served 22 years in the Submarine Force. During his last tour he participated in the Navy’s ‘Revolution in Training’ as an initial member of the Submarine Learning Center. He also served nine years afloat aboard USS Shark, USS Trepang, and USS Batfish. Ashore, Mr. Houser was a Joint Staff Officer at U.S. Strategic Command as well as a ‘Master Training Specialist’ in two separate Navy Training commands.
Mr. Houser returned to the SLC as a federal employee in 2005 and was the first Learning Standards Officer, responsible for curriculum management and instructor development.
Mr. Houser is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He has graduate degrees from the University of Rhode Island and the Naval War College.
