Dr. Baker has served as the associate director at the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy since 2015, focusing on self-awareness for leaders. He also teaches in the Naval War College's electives program. Retiring as a Navy captain after 30 years of service, his submarine career included two ballistic missile submarine tours in the Pacific and two attack submarine tours in the Atlantic. His shore duty assignments were on submarine operational staffs in Yokosuka, Japan, and in Bangor, Washington. Baker also held instructor assignments at the Navy’s Command Leadership School (now Naval Leadership and Ethics Center), the Naval War College (National Security Affairs - NSA resident course), and the Naval War College's College of Distance Education (NSA Division).
