Cmdr. Lofgren received his commission as a naval officer through Officer Candidate School and completed flight training in Pensacola, Florida, and Meridian, Mississippi. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, a Master of Science in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego, and a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
Lofgren has extensive operational and training experience in the strike fighter community, serving for a decade in various assignments at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, amassing more than 2,200 hours, 500 carrier landings and multiple combat deployments in the FA-18E/F Super Hornet.
Lofgren’s shore tours include service as an instructor pilot at Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 122 and as a student in residence at the U.S. Naval War College, where he was selected for an exclusive wargaming group focusing on near-peer threats. He most recently served at Naval Aviation Schools Command (NASC) as the Aviation Training School director, Naval Introductory Flight Evaluation (NIFE) director, and Introductory Flight Screening director.
He currently serves as the executive officer for NASC, and he is also an associate flight instructor with Training Squadron (VT) 86 and the NIFE government chief certified flight instructor.
