Commander David S. Sweet

Cmdr. Sweet enlisted in the U. S. Navy in June 1989 as an aviation electronics technician (AT) and completed recruit training in San Diego, California.  In 2001, he was promoted to chief petty officer and in 2003 was commissioned under the Limited Duty Officer program.

His enlisted assignments include Naval Aviation Technical Training Center Millington, Tennessee; Sea Control Squadron (VS) 41, Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island, San Diego; Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD), NAS North Island, San Diego; Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Detachment (AIMD) NAS Agana, Guam; USS Independence (CV 62), Yokosuka, Japan; and USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), Yokosuka, Japan.

His commissioned officer assignments include Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 195, Naval Air Facility (NAF) Atsugi, Japan; AIMD, NAS Brunswick, Maine; Patrol Squadron (VP) 9, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; Commander Task Force (CTF) 72, Misawa, Japan; USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), Yokosuka, Japan; and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan.

Sweet currently serves as the executive officer, Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Whidbey Island, Washington.

His awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various unit and service awards.
