Commander Nicholas P. Gamiz

Cmdr. Gamiz, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural History, and from the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master of Business Administration.  He also holds a Master of National Strategy and Policy degree from the National War College.
 
His operational assignments include service with the “Tridents” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 26, where he completed three deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Noble Eagle.  Furthermore, he served as the Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization instructor pilot with the “Conquistadors” of Fleet Logistics Support (VR) 57 and the operations officer with the “Starlifters” of Fleet Logistics Support (VR) 1, where he twice deployed in support of Commander, International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, orchestrating and executing mission requirements for senior naval leadership.
 
His shore assignments include instructor at the P3-C Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) VP-30, where he trained naval aviators in contact and tactical flying and led efforts to bring new technologies and tactical simulation training to the fleet.  In addition, he served as aviation manpower officer with the Chief of Naval Operations N1 staff; director of the Secretary of the Navy Congressional Liaison/White House Liaison Office; executive officer for Navy Recruiting District San Antonio; and subsequently as commanding officer for Navy Talent Acquisition Group San Antonio.
 
He assumed command of Naval Technical Training Center in November 2020.
 
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and various personal, unit and campaign decorations.
