Master Chief Petty Officer Myrtis Calhoun

Master Chief Petty Officer Myrtis Calhoun, a native of Gulfport, Mississippi, entered the U.S. Navy and completed boot camp and apprenticeship training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois in March 1996.
 
Her enlisted tours include service as an undesignated airman with Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron (VQ) 5 at Naval Air Station (NAS) North Island where she deployed aboard USS Constellation (CV 64) in 1997 and decided to strike for the aviation maintenance administrationman rating.  Her follow-on assignments were with Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department NAS Point Mugu, California; Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light (HSL) 47; Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) 11 until the command was redesignated as Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 where she deployed with USNS Rainer (T-AOE 7); Fleet Readiness Center Southwest; HSC-15 deploying with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) in November 2010 and December 2011.  She has also completed two tours at Commander, Naval Air Force U.S. Pacific Fleet with the aviation maintenance management teams.
 
In April 2020, she reported as departmental leading chief petty officer, Center for Naval Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) North Island. 
 
Calhoun currently serves as the senior enlisted leader for CNATTU North Island.
 
Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various unit, campaign and service awards.
