Commander Monica Renee Tate

Cmdr. Tate, a native of Chicago, Illinois, received her commission through Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, Florida in May 2001.  She earned her Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Norfolk State University.  She graduated from The College of William and Mary in May 2013 with a Master of Business Administration and from the National Defense University, Eisenhower School with a master’s degree in National Strategy and Resourcing in June 2018.
 
At sea, she served as the disbursing/sales officer aboard USS Cole (DDG 67), homeported at Norfolk, Virginia; supply officer aboard USS Hawes (FFG 53) based at Norfolk, with the ship’s Supply Department earning the prestigious Blue “E” Award and deploying to the Arabian Gulf in direct support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom; and as supply officer aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), homeported at San Diego, California.
 
Her shore assignments include participant in the Navy Acquisition Contracting Officer Intern Program at Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Richmond, Virginia; assistant operations officer for Commander, Logistics Forces, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command / Commander, Task Force (CTF) 53 in Manama, Bahrain; Navy operations officer at DLA; Integrated Logistics Support manager, CVN 78, Program Executive Office for Aircraft Carriers, Washington, D.C.; and director of readiness (N412), Commander, Naval Surface Force Pacific, San Diego.
 
Tate reported as the executive officer, Navy Supply Corps School, Newport, Rhode Island on June 1, 2021.
 
Her personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Joint Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards). She is qualified as a surface warfare supply corps officer and naval aviation supply officer and is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. Additionally, she has earned Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I and Phase II.
