Commander Leonardo Giovannelli

Cmdr. Giovannelli, a native of Mexico City, Mexico, spent his youth in San Diego, California and was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, in 2000.  Giovannelli earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Southern California, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
 
His sea assignments include Combat information Center officer and assistant operations officer aboard USS Curts (FFG 38); detachment officer in charge for the Belleau Wood Expeditionary Strike Group at Naval Beach Group 1; commissioning chief engineer aboard USS Dewey (DDG 105); chief engineer aboard USS Antietam (CG 54); and executive officer and then commanding officer of USS Preble (DDG 88).
 
Ashore, he served as the Special Mission and naval fleet auxiliary ships scheduler for Sealift Logistics Command Europe; as a director fellow in the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group; and as the air and missile defense lead at Surface Warfare Officers School Command.
 
He is currently serving as commanding officer, Mariner Skills Training Center, Pacific (MSTCPAC) which was established on Oct. 1, 2020.
