Mark A. Truluck

Mr. Mark A. Truluck, a native of Hall County, Ga., graduated from North Georgia College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He received his commission from Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, in 1989 and was designated a naval aviator in December 1990. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College. He earned a master's degree in Public Administration from Auburn University.
At sea, he served as aviation ordnance division and NATOPS officer for Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron (HS) 3 aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71); antisubmarine warfare and combat search and rescue officer for Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8 aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67); and aviation safety officer, training department head, and maintenance officer for HS-3 aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65). As commanding officer of HS-3, he deployed to the Indian Ocean and Arabian Gulf aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt, and the squadron was awarded the Naval Air Forces Battle "E", Safety "S" and Captain Arnold Jay Isbell Trophy for Antisubmarine Warfare Excellence for 2008. Most recently, Truluck served as commander of Mine Countermeasures Squadron (MCMRON) 7, responsible for mine countermeasures operations throughout U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations as part of the forward deployed naval forces stationed in Sasebo, Japan and Pohang, Republic of Korea.
His shore tours include service as a fleet replacement squadron instructor pilot in the SH-60F/HH-60H; as the helicopter warfare branch head, SH-60F/HH-60H flight and tactics instructor for HS-1; and as assistant department head at the Seahawk Weapons and Tactics School at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center, Fallon, Nevada. He also served as the helicopter commander detailer and assistant aviation captain detailer in PERS-43, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tennessee; as the deputy director of Training, Doctrine, and Capability Development Directorate (J7/9), headquarters, U.S. Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida; and as commanding officer of Naval Aviation Schools Command, Pensacola, Florida. In 2018, Truluck assumed command of Naval Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity, Pensacola, Florida, and held this position until his retirement from active duty.
During his career, Truluck completed five carrier deployments and accumulated more than 5,000 flight hours. His decorations include the Legion of Merit (3 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign, unit, and sea service-related awards.
Mr. Truluck entered federal civilian service with the Federal Aviation Administration, Flight Standard District Office Nashville, Tenn. in 2020. In 2021 transferred to the Department of the Navy and currently serves as Naval Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity executive director.
