Lieutenant Commander Kevin S. Furst

Lt. Cmdr. Kevin Furst is a native of Appleton, Wisconsin. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Global Economics and International Business from Cedarville University and a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from the Naval War College. He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in March 2010, and attended the information warfare basic course before qualifying as a cryptologic warfare officer and information warfare officer in 2012.

Furst’s operational assignments include: signals warfare officer onboard USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93), completing a WESTPAC deployment, qualifying as special evaluator for the EP-3E Aries II and completing multiple deployments in the Sixth Fleet area of responsibility; and cryptologic resource coordinator for Carrier Strike Group 12, successfully leading cryptologic operations on a round-the-world deployment onboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) through Fifth and Seventh Fleets in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedom Sentinel.
 
Ashore, Furst served as a watch officer of a national intelligence target office and the senior operations officer of Hawaii Security Operations Center while stationed at Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Hawaii. While stationed at NIOC Georgia, he served as direct support surface operations and air operations department head, leading and directing sailor deployments to augment 5th and 6th Fleet naval and air units.
 
Upon reporting to Information Warfare Training Command Corry Station in 2021, he assumed duties as the cryptologic resource coordinator course instructor. In April 2022, Furst was appointed as executive officer for IWTC Corry Station. 
 
Furst has been awarded the Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
