Captain Lester A. Brown, Jr.

Captain Lester Brown, a native of Maryland, is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He holds a Master of Arts in international relations from the University of San Diego and an Executive Master of Science in business administration from William and Mary College. He is a graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College with a Master of Military Studies and holds a Joint Professional Military Education Phase-II credit from the Joint Forces Staff College.

Brown’s sea tours include USS Anchorage (LSD 36), as communications officer and main propulsion division officer; USS Sides (FFG 14) as main propulsion assistant and ordnance officer; USS Patriot (MCM 7) and USS Philippine Sea (CG 58) as chief engineer; and USS McFaul (DDG 74) as executive officer and commanding officer.
His ashore tour include Surface Warfare Division staff officer for at Afloat Training Group, Pacific; staff officer for the Executive Panel and as Assessment Division (N81) force structure analyst in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV);  N02 directorate staff for Commander, Naval Surface Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia working on Force Integration and Surface Warfare Enterprise initiatives; director of Fleet Command Center  with Commander, United States Fleet Forces; and with Lessons Learned Division at Navy Warfare Development Command.
Brown currently serves as commanding officer for Naval Leadership and Ethics Command San Diego.
His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (five awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Battle Efficiency Ribbons (six awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
