Commander Michelle V. Higingbotham

Cmdr. Michelle V.  Higingbotham, a native of Chester Gap, Virginia, graduated U.S. Navy boot camp in Orlando, Florida, in May 1994.  She graduated Aviation Electronics Technician “A” School and AVSI in Millington, Tennessee, in May 1995. She was commissioned under the Limited Duty Officer program in November 2005.
 
Her sea assignments include: the USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67), from July 1995 to December 1997, where she served as a calibration technician; the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), from February 1998 to July 2000, as the radar shop leading petty officer; the John F. Kennedy (CV 67) in 2003,  as a aircraft intermediate maintenance department (AIMD) chief; the USS America (LHA 6) from April 2017 to August 2019 as the maintenance officer in AIMD. 
 
Her shore assignments include: Naval Air Technical Training Center in Pensacola, Florida, from July 2000 to September 2003, as an Aviation Electronics Technician “A” School instructor; Patrol Squadron (VP) 10 in Brunswick, Maine, as the material control officer and assistant maintenance officer from January 2006 to January 2009;  Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (HS) 11 in Jacksonville, Florida, as the assistant maintenance officer and maintenance material control officer (MMCO) from January 2009 to September 2011; Fleet Readiness Center Southeast in Jacksonville, Florida, as quality assurance officer and MMCO from October 2011 to February 2014; VP-26 as the MMCO from February 2014 to March 2017; VP-30’s maintenance officer from September 2019 to August 2022; and as the executive officer at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Jacksonville, Florida, until December 2022.

She currently serves as commanding officer of CNATTU Jacksonville, Florida.
 
Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
