Master Chief Petty Officer Andrew J. Hochgraver is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He enlisted in the United States Navy in July 2000 and attended basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois.  Upon completion of basic training, he attended Basic Engineering Common Core School and Engineman "A" School at Naval Station Great Lakes, Illinois.

His previous duty assignments include USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG 58), homeported in both Norfolk, VA and Mayport, FL; Recruit Training Command as a Recruit Division Commander where he advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) home ported in San Diego, CA where he was advanced to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer, Master Chief Petty Officer and was selected for the Command Master Chief Program.

His Command Master Chief tours include USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan; USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), home ported in Gaeta, Italy both in support of Forward Deployed Naval Forces, U.S. Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy supporting U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa, U.S. Sixth Fleet, NATO and Combatant Commanders strategic priorities, and as Region Command Master Chief for Naval District Washington, D.C.

In January 2023, he reported to Naval Service Training Command and is currently serving as theCommand Master Chief.  He is a graduate of Thomas Edison State College earning an Associate Degree in Applied Science and Bachelor Degree in Organizational Leadership from Trident University, U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 179), Command Master Chief and Chief of the Boat Course (Class 129), Executive Leadership Symposium and National Defense University Keystone Course (Class 17-2).

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and numerous unit and campaign awards. He attributes all of his personal awards and success to his family, mentors, and the Sailors with whom he has proudly served with exemplifying the Navy's Core Values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
