Lieutenant Commander Jermaine L. Nichols

Lt. Cmdr. Jermaine L. Nichols, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September 2001 as a machinist’s mate and served aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).  Following this tour, he decided to get out the Navy to pursue a college degree. He graduated from Southern University A&M College of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Human Resources. He received his commission as a surface warfare officer through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps.

He sea assignments include USS Gravely (DDG 107) as a repair division officer, assistant damage control officer, and ordnance/gunnery officer.  In 2012, he re-designated as an aerospace maintenance duty officer. In January 2013, he reported to Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Detachment Whiting Field, Florida, for Aviation Maintenance Officer (AMO) School. In March 2013, he graduated from AMO School and reported to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 81, Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.  During this tour, he served as assistant maintenance officer and completed a 10-month Western Pacific deployment aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). In March 2016, he reported to USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), serving as IM-3 and IM-1 division officer.  During this tour, he earned his Professional Aviation Maintenance Officer wings.  In December 2020, he reported to CVN 70, where he served as maintenance material control officer and assistant maintenance officer provided support to Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2 during an eight month deployment.  

His shore assignments include: Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland and PMA-273 Naval Undergraduate Flight Training Systems, where he served as the T-45 Contractor Logistics Support Integrated Product Team Lead in direct support of NAVAIR 6.0.

He currently serves as officer in charge,  CNATT Detachment Whiting Field.

His personal awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Good Conduct Medal and numerous campaign, unit, and service awards. 

He holds multiple Defense Acquisition University career field certifications, DAWIA Level III certified in Production, Quality & Management (PQM), Life Cycle Logistics (LCL), Practitioner certified in Engineering & Technical Management (ETM), and Defense Acquisition Corps member.
