Commander Chabonnie Alexander

Cmdr. Chabonnie “Sonny” Alexander, a native of Pryor, Oklahoma, joined the U.S. Navy in March 1993.  After completing recruit training, he attended follow on training as a non-designated airman at Great Lakes, Illinois.  He later earned is commission as an ensign through the Limited Duty Officer program.  He has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of La Verne.

His enlisted tours include Attack Squadron (VA) 165, Electronic Attack Squadron Sea Duty Component (VAQ) 129, Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD), all at Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey Island, Washington; AIMD Point Mugu,  NAS Point Mugu, California; Fighter Squadron (VF) 32, Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 32, NAS Oceana, Virginia.
 
As an officer, his operational sea tours include VFA-25, NAS Lemoore, California, as the squadron ordnance officer; Commander Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3, NAS Oceana, Virginia, as the air wing ordnance officer; USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) NAS Norfolk, Virginia, as the ordnance handling officer; and USS Chester Nimitz (CVN 68) Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton, Washington, as the weapons officer.
 
His shore tours include Naval Munitions Command Detachment Key West Key West, Florida, as the officer in charge and Commander Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic NAS Oceana, Virginia, as the staff weapons officer.
 
He currently serves as executive officer, Center for Naval Aviation Training Unit Lemoore, California.
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various unit and service awards.
