Commander Chabonnie Alexander

Cmdr. Chabonnie “Sonny” Alexander, a native of Pryor, Oklahoma, joined the U.S. Navy in March 1993, and after attending boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended follow-on training as a non-designated airman. He earned his commission through the Limited Duty Officer program. He graduated from the University of La Verne with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

His enlisted tours include Attack Squadron (VA) 165; Electronic Attack Squadron Sea Duty Component (VAQ) 129; Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD); AIMD Point Mugu; Fighter Squadron (VF) 32; and Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 32.
 
As an officer, his operational tours include squadron ordnance officer, VFA-25; air wing ordnance officer, Commander Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3; ordnance handling officer, USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78); and weapons officer, USS Nimitz (CVN 68).
 
His shore tours include officer-in-charge, Naval Munitions Command Detachment Key West; staff weapons officer, Commander Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic NAS Oceana; and executive officer, Center for Naval Aviation Training Unit (CNATTU) Lemoore.
 
Alexander reported to CNATTU Lemoore as commanding officer in May 2024.
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards) and various unit and service awards.
