Captain Timothy Yanik

Captain Timothy Yanik, a native of Brook Park, Ohio, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.  Following commissioning, he qualified Navy Scuba Diver at the Naval Diving & Salvage Training Center in Panama City, Florida.  He subsequently earned a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania where he attended as recipient of an Admiral Grace Murray Hopper Fellowship.

As a Submarine Officer, Captain Yanik served as Main Propulsion Assistant and Quality Assurance Officer on USS LOUISVILLE (SSN 724), in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Additionally, Captain Yanik served as Engineer on USS JACKSONVILLE (SSN 699) where he completed two change of homeports from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Norfolk, Virginia to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Captain Yanik served as Executive Officer on USS WYOMING (SSBN 742) (BLUE) in Kings Bay, Georgia.  Captain Yanik assumed Command of USS CHARLOTTE (SSN 766) from May 2016 to March of 2019, homeported in Pearl Harbor. 
 
Ashore, Captain Yanik served as Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the NROTC unit College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Additionally, he served as Squadron Engineer at Submarine Squadron Six in Norfolk, Virginia, and as Director for Nuclear and Submarine Programs at Navy Recruiting Command.  Following Command at Sea, Captain Yanik served as Deputy Commander for Submarine Squadron Seven in Pearl Harbor.  Previously, Captain Yanik served as the J3X Sensitive Activities Division Chief at USINDOPACOM.  His next assignment is Commander, Naval Submarine Training Center, Pacific.

 Captain Yanik completed three overseas deployments in support of U.S. submarine operations in the Pacific, Central and European Commands.  Additionally, Captain Yanik completed two strategic deterrent patrols and served with submarine crews who collectively earned five unit awards and two Battle ‘E’s.
