Cmdr. Alexa Striba, a native of Manhattan, New York, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1991 and after completing boot camp at Naval Training Center Orlando, Florida, she attended Aviation Ordnanceman “A” School. She graduated from Ashford University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership. She was commissioned through the Limited Duty Officer program.
 
Her enlisted assignments include Naval Support Facility Diego Garcia; Patrol Squadron (VP) 10; Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville; VP 8; Naval Air Technical Training Center; and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71).
 
As an officer, her operational tours included ordnance officer-in-charge, Camp Mujuk, Rep. of Korea; air gunner, Theodore Roosevelt; weapons assembly division officer, Theodore Roosevelt; ordnance handling officer, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); and weapons department head, USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77).
 
Her shore tours include air launch weapons team gunner, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic; leadership instructor, Center for Personal and Professional Development; weapons division head and command representative on the Weapons Systems Explosive Review Board, Naval Safety Center; and executive officer at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Oceana.

Striba reported to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit Oceana as commanding officer in December 2024.
 
Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and various campaign, unit and service awards. She was selected as the 2018 recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Association Peer-Award for Inspirational Leadership.
