Command Master Chief John A. Beekman is a native of Savannah, Georgia. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2002, and after boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Basic Seamanship Apprentice School. He is a graduate of the United States Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 187) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course.
His operational tours include USS Doyle (FFG 39), homeported in Mayport, Florida, deploying three times in support of counter-drug operations in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Horn of Africa; USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53), homeported in San Diego, deploying to U.S. 5th and 7th Fleets; USS Decatur (DDG 73), homeported in San Diego, deploying to U.S. 5th and 7th Fleets; and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 71, deploying to U.S. 7th Fleet aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).
Ashore, he served as recruiter in charge of Navy Recruiting Station Statesboro, Georgia, earning Small Station of the Year in 2010; and command master chief of United States Military Entrance Processing Command’s 7th Battalion and San Diego Military Entrance Processing Command.
Beekman reported to Mariner Skills Training Center Pacific as command master chief in October 2022.
