Master Chief Electronic Technician Cortney Pitts

Master Chief Cortney M. Pitts, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, completed his General Education Diploma in 2003 in order to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He entered the delayed entry program in August 2003, enlisted in May 2004, and attended boot camp at Great Lakes, Illinois in August 2004. He holds an Associates of Applied Science in Electronic Studies from Thomas Edison State College, a Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies, and a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership from Liberty University.

His operational tours include the commissioning of USS San Antonio (LPD 17) where he deployed to 5th Fleet during Operation Enduring Freedom and served as part of the Joint Counter Terrorism Visit Board Search and Seizure Team; Individual Augment in U.S. Central Command as the RF spectrum manager and N6 leading petty officer to commission Shaikh Isa Air Base; Coastal Riverine Squadron 4 as a company leading chief petty officer (LCPO) deployed to Camp Patriot, Kuwait; USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) as the Combat Systems Department LCPO deployed to U.S. 5th Fleet as the Ballistic Missile Defense Ship; USS Somerset (LPD 5) deployed for nine months during the coronavirus in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel; USS Tripoli (LHA 7) deployed to U.S. 7th Fleet in a show of force campaign and three joint exercises.

Ashore, he served at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Hampton Roads, and Afloat Training Group San Diego.

Pitts reported to Information Warfare Training Command San Diego as senior enlisted leader in XXX, XXXX.

He is qualified as an information, surface, air and expeditionary warfare specialist. His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal and multiple unit and campaign awards.

 He aided in the development and pilot of the Navy Leader Development Courses and designed the Facilitate the Facilitator course of instruction.
