Captain Neil G. Sexton

Capt. Neil Sexton, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, graduated from and received his commission through the U.S. Naval Academy in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography. He graduated from Naval Post Graduate School in 2001 with a Master of Science in Applied Physics. Following graduate studies, he attended Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center where he qualified as dive officer.
At sea, he served as electrical officer, auxiliaries officer, and main propulsion assistant aboard USS Ticonderoga (CG 47); and assistant operations officer for Amphibious Squadron 11 embarked on USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3).
His shore tours include ship superintendent at Ship Repair Facility Yokosuka; dive officer, docking officer and assistant officer-in- charge at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center Detachment Bahrain; Commander, Task Force 53 diving and salvage officer for U.S. 5th Fleet; and deputy project superintendent for attack submarine availabilities at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Capt. Sexton’s staff assignments include course director at Engineering Duty Officer School; assistant business and strategic planning officer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard; section head for Afloat Readiness at Chief of Naval Operations (N81); and executive assistant for Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command.
Most recently, Capt. Sexton completed four years as commanding officer of U.S. Naval Ship Repair Facility and Japan Regional Maintenance Center. He was responsible for maintenance and modernization of ships in U.S. 7th Fleet, including detachments in Sasebo and Singapore. 
He reported to Engineering Duty Officer School as commanding officer in May 2023.
His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
