CAPTAIN SHAWN T. BAILEY

Capt. Shawn Bailey, a native of San Antonio, Texas, graduated in 1995 from Texas A&M University at Galveston with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology. He graduated from the Naval War College in 2010 with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.
 
His operational assignments include two back-to-back tours with Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) 5, serving aboard USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3), USNS Niagara Falls (T-AFS 3) and USNS Flint (T-AE 32). He is a plank owner of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HCS) 23, deploying as detachment officer in charge aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), and serving as squadron training officer and operations officer. He served as air boss aboard USS Boxer (LHD 4).
 
His shore assignments include instructor duty at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center serving as a Seahawk weapons and tactics instructor (SWTI) and the SWTI program manager providing graduate-level flight training for all Navy H-60 communities.
 
His command assignments include HSC-28; HSC-3; HSC-22; Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic; and Tactical Training Group Atlantic.
 
Bailey reported to Naval Leadership and Ethics Center as commanding officer in June 2023.
 
His decorations include various personal, unit, campaign and service awards. He has accumulated more than 3,600 flight hours in the HH-46D, MH-60S, SH-60F, HH-60H, MH-53E, and MQ-8B helicopters. He was designated a naval aviator in June 1997.
