Captain Rusty J Williamson

Capt. Rusty Williamson, a native of Yankton, South Dakota, graduated from Boston University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Science in Human Physiology. He graduated from Boston University in 2007 with a Master of Business Administration.

At sea, he served as anti-submarine warfare officer aboard USS Estocin (FFG 15); reactor controls division officer aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75); operations officer aboard USS Mitscher (DDG 57); reactor electrical assistant aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69); executive officer and commanding officer aboard USS McFaul (DDG 74), completing an 8-month deployment to U.S. 5th Fleet while earning the 2019 Retention Excellence Award and the 2019 Battle “E”; and reactor officer aboard Harry S. Truman, completing an extended 10-month deployment to U.S. 6th Fleet.

His shore tours include an instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School Command; executive assistant to the deputy director and speechwriter to the director at Naval Reactors; defense resource manager at Joint Staff, J-8, Program and Budget Analysis Division; and executive assistant to the deputy director for Resources and Acquisition, J-8.

Williamson’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit, campaign and service awards.
