Commander Robert F. Kersey III

Cmdr. Robert F. Kersey III, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1994 and earned his commission in 2006 through the Limited Duty Officer program. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice-Homeland Security from Saint Leos University in 2009 and a Master of Science from Liberty University in Criminal Justice and Counseling in 2015.

His enlisted assignments include USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69); Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 120; VAW-123, where he was selected as Airborne Command and Control Logistics Wing's (ACCLW) Sailor of the Year 2004; and Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 40, where he was promoted to chief petty officer and selected as a limited duty officer.

After commissioning, his operational assignments include Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 28; VAW-123; VAW-126, where he was selected as ACCLW 2015 East Coast Hawkeye Maintenance Officer of the Year; and aircraft intermediate maintenance department officer aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6).

His shore tours include Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic (FRCMA) and two tours at ACCLW.

Kersey reported to Center for Naval Technical Training Unit North Island as executive officer in November 2023.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (seven awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) and various campaign and unit awards.

He is designated a professional aviation maintenance officer and Acquisition Professional Community member.
