Mr. Darren M. Alvarez

Mr. Alvarez, a native of Tampa, Florida, received his bachelor's degree from the University of Florida in Communications. He assumed the responsibilities of the executive director, Center for Seabees and Facilities Engineering (CSFE), Port Hueneme, California, in February 2024.

Alvarez spent more than 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps flying helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft. He deployed for combat operations on four occasions, including commanding a team of Marines during the original invasion of Iraq with the Air Naval Gun Liaison Company controlling aircraft and ground fires. He served his final active-duty tour with the Joint Guam Program Office, where he facilitated, managed and executed all requirements and milestones in support of Secretary of the Navy direction in regard to the Defense Posture Realignment Initiative and an $8.7 billion realignment of Marine Forces to Guam.

Following retirement from the Marine Corps, Alvarez joined the U.S. Air Force as a civilian and worked as the chief of plans for Andersen Air Force Base where he provided strategic, analytic and staff support to the 36th Wing Command general for review, planning, integration and execution of various buildup programs for Guam. He also served as focal point for all operational plans, conceptual plans and crisis action planning requirements affecting the 36th Wing Command. Additionally, he served as the Andersen Air Force Base co-lead in providing strategic, analytic and staff support for review, planning, integration and execution of various buildup programs for Guam and led the Commanders Action Group.

Currently, Alvarez is responsible for the operation, supervision and management of seven command directorates and five learning sites executing annual training delivery for over 15,000 inter-service enlisted and officer students. His specific duties include development and implementation of the command strategic plan, synchronizing of command priorities and objectives, managing civilian personnel programs, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policies.

Alvarez received an Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Commander, 36th Wing in 2018 and 2021.
