Lt. Cmdr. Shun White

Lt. Cmdr. Shun White, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, graduated in 2009 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor's degree in English.
 
At sea, he served as strike officer aboard USS Stout (DDG 55), responsible for 51 Tomahawk Cruise Missile launches during Operation Odyssey Dawn; fire control officer, weapons officer and combat systems officer aboard USS Laboon (DDG 58); and Destroyer Squadron 22 lead planner for Carrier Strike Group 2, where he deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).
 
His shore tour includes Combat Systems Training Command, where he trained all ships in fleet concentration areas on integrated air and missile defense tactics. 
 
White reported to Maritime Skills Training Center Atlantic as executive officer in December 2023.
 
He is qualified a surface warfare officer. His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards); and various campaign awards.

Lapse in Appropriations: The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Sept. 30, 2025.
Military personnel will continue in normal duty status, without pay, until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.
