Captain Vic Sheldon

Capt. Victor Sheldon graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in ocean engineering and holds a Master of Arts degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

Afloat, he commanded USS Princeton (CG 59) USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) and USS Scout (MCM 8), USS Sentry (MCM 3), and USS Champion (MCM 4), as commanding officer of rotational MCM Crew Persistent. His other sea duty assignments include USS Ingraham (FFG 61), USS Sacramento (AOE 1), and USS Hopper (DDG 70).

Ashore, he most recently served as the Deputy Commander of Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center. He also served on the staff of the Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy, as the deputy director of the Command at Sea Department (N75) at the Surface Warfare Officers School, as the executive assistant to the Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, and as the Joint Staff (J5) South and Central Asia Division Chief for the deputy director for Strategy, Policy, and Plans for the Middle East.

His awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards

He took command of Surface Warfare Schools Command in May 2026.
