Commander Sean P. Kearney

Cmdr. Sean Kearney, a native of New Castle, Pennsylvania, graduated in 2007 from the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor's degree in International Relations. He graduated from the University of Florida in 2015 with a Master of Business Administration and the Naval War College in 2018 with a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies.
 
His operational assignments include Patrol Squadron (VP) 10 where he deployed twice to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and U.S. Africa Command in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and multiple detachments supporting joint and international exercises; catapult and arresting gear officer aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), where he rose to Topcat and CVN assistant air officer while serving as the V-4 and V-1 division officer; and tactics officer and maintenance officer with VP-16, where he deployed multiple times in support of CENTCOM operations.

His shore tours include instructor duty at VP-30 and service on the CENTCOM staff as a strategic war planner, executive officer to the vice director of the J5 and chief of operations in the CENTCOM Joint Operations Center.
 
He reported to Navy Service Support Advanced Training Command as commanding officer in February 2024.
 
Kearney is designated a naval flight officer. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
