Lieutenant Commander R. Leon Lary IV

Lt. Cmdr. R. Leon Lary IV, a native of Potomac, Maryland, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He received a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School where he received the Conrad Scholar Award.

His operational assignments include USS Cheyenne (SSN 773); weapons officer aboard USS Jimmy Carter (SSN 23); and officer of the deck aboard USS Topeka (SSN 754).

Ashore, he served as exercise officer at Commander Task Force 65/Destroyer Squadron 60; and engineering department director for Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific (NSTCP).

He reported to NSTCP as executive officer in March 2024.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various unit and service awards.
