Commander Daniel R. Flemming

Cmdr. Daniel R. Flemming is a 2007 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science in History. In 2014, he earned a Master of Science in Cyber Systems and Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). While assigned to NPS, he also served as a Director Fellow for the Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group XXXII.
 

His operational tours include aviation intelligence officer at Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 34 where he embarked on USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) for a combat deployment; intelligence officer at Amphibious Squadron 11 in Sasebo, Japan where he permanently embarked USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and USS Wasp (LHD 1) for multiple deployments in the Indo-Pacific; and as the director of intelligence at Naval Special Warfare Group 1.

Ashore, he served as assistant intelligence officer at Strike Fighter Weapons School Atlantic; Iran non-kinetics team lead, senior watch officer, and executive assistant at Nimitz Operational Intelligence Center; and director of the Maritime Intelligence Operations Center at U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Flemming assumed command of Information Warfare Training Command San Diego in April 2024.

His military decorations include multiple personal, unit, and campaign awards. He is also the recipient of the 2021 Rear Adm. Edwin T Layton Award for Leadership and Mentorship.
