Captain Douglas W. Alley

Captain Douglas Alley, originally from Pulaski, Virginia, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1990. After attending boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he earned his commission in 2002 through Officer Candidate School. He is a graduate of Columbia College and holds a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

A seasoned leader with a diverse operational and shore-based background, his career includes assignments aboard the USS DONALD B. BEARY (FF 1085) and USS GUARDIAN (MCM 5), as well as with Naval Submarine Support Facility, Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit Two, and numerous Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Units (EODMU). He has served in roles ranging from EOD Platoon Leader, EOD Company Commander, Weapons Officer, Chief Staff Officer to Commanding Officer and has held key planning and training positions at U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group Two, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training and Evaluation Unit Two, and U.S. Central Command. He has also served as Branch Chief for the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations/ Low-Intensity Conflict, and most recently as Commanding Officer of Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal.

CAPT Alley is qualified as an EOD Officer, Diving and Salvage Officer and Naval Parachutist. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (two); Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three) and various campaign, unit and service awards.
