Lt. Cmdr. Trentt James graduated in 2012 from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering.

His operational assignments include USS Pasadena (SSN 752) and USS Nevada (SSBN 733) (Gold).

His shore assignments include the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command and engineering department director at Trident Training Facility (TTF) Bangor.

He reported to TTF Bangor as executive officer in June 2024.
