Senior Chief Construction Mechanic David L. Varner

Senior Chief Construction Mechanic David Varner, a native Cedaredge, Colorado, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2004, and after bootcamp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Construction Mechanic “A” School.

His assignments include 31st Seabee Readiness Group Port Hueneme as floor mechanic and primary wrecker operator; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 as work center supervisor and cost control, where he deployed to Guam and Afghanistan; Center for Seabees Facilities and Engineering Detachment China Lake as an instructor for Blasting and Quarry Operations and Water Well Drilling Operations; Amphibious Construction Battalion 1 as Alfa Company crane mechanic, 3M assistant and 2nd Platoon lead petty officer; and Naval Personnel Command as the E1-E6 construction mechanic detailer.  

He reported to Naval Construction Training Center Learning Site China Lake as officer in charge in June 2024.

Varner is designated a Seabee warfare specialist and master training specialist. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
