Commander James D. Johncock

Cmdr. James Johncock, a native of Berea, Ohio, graduated in 2003 from Case Western Reserve University with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned his commission through Officer Candidate School. He graduated from the University of Florida with a Master of Science in Coastal Engineering, Case Western Reserve University with a Master of Engineering Management, and Command and Staff College at Marine Corps University with a Master of Military Studies.
 

His assignments include Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic as assistant operations officer; Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, as public works officer; Navy Expeditionary Combat Command as current operations officer; Underwater Construction Team 1 as commanding officer; OPNAV N957 as action officer, where he managed the Naval Construction Force, Naval Expeditionary Logistics Support Group, Naval Expeditionary Intelligence Command, and the NAVFAC Expeditionary Programs Office portfolios; Naval Support Facility Thurmont as public works officer; Underwater Construction Team 1 as executive officer; Amphibious Construction Battalion 1 as alfa company commander; Multi-National Forces Iraq; and Naval Hospital Jacksonville as facility management deputy department head.

He reported to Naval Construction Training Center Gulfport as commanding officer in June 2024.

Johncock is a licensed professional engineer in Michigan, designated a Seabee warfare specialist and basic diving officer, and is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and other unit and service awards.
