Capt. Bromley, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, graduated from Old Dominion University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. Following commissioning, he attended Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, Rhode Island, for training as a Division Officer.
His sea assignments include strike officer and navigator aboard USS Gonzalez (DDG 66), weapons and combat systems officer on USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55), assistant surface operations officer for Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 3, executive officer aboard USS Mobile Bay (CG 53), and as the executive officer and commanding officer aboard USS McFaul (DDG 74). During these tours, he completed multiple deployments to the U.S. 5th, 6th, and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility.
Ashore, Bromley attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, earning a Master of Science in Information Systems and completing Joint Professional Military Education Phases I and II. After completing an individual augmentee tour in the Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Integration and Operations Cell in Bagdad, Iraq, he served as the combat systems officer for the Destroyer Class Squadron. Additionally, he was the surface warfare advanced tactical training lead for the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center. Most recently, he served as the surface capabilities and requirements lead at U.S. Fleet Forces Command.
He became the ninth commanding officer of the Center for Security Forces on July 23, 2024.
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various other service awards.
