Senior Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate Equipment Villeneuve V. Nelwan

Senior Chief Aviation Boatswain's Mate Equipment Villeneuve V. Nelwan, a native of Los Angeles, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1998, and after completing boot camp at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Airman Apprenticeship Training. He graduated in 2024 from American Military University with a master's degree in small business. 

His assignments include aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) maintenance technician aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), where he deployed in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Southern Watch and Iraqi Freedom; Naval Air Station Brunswick; arresting gear crew member aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76); individual augmentee (IA) assignment to Afghanistan as guard force commander with Task Group Trident 3A; arresting gear leading petty officer aboard Ronald Reagan; IA assignment to Afghanistan as duty movement officer with Commander Kandahar Airfield Headquarters; E-28 shore base arresting gear leading chief petty officer (LCPO) at Naval Air Station Lemoore; and arresting gear LCPO, quality assurance supervisor, ALRE maintenance chief, V-2 Division LCPO, and acting air department LCPO aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77), where he deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

He reported to Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) Detachment Lakehurst as senior enlisted leader in November 2020.

Nelwan is designated a specialist in aviation, surface and information warfare. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (four awards) and multiple unit service awards.
