Senior Chief Aviation Electronics Technician Terry J. West

Senior Chief Aviation Electronics Technician Terry J. West, a native of Columbus, Georgia, enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois in July 2000.  Upon completion of recruit training, he attended AT “A” School in Pensacola, Florida, in September 2000.  After graduating from “A” school, he went on to attend the General Calibration and Maintenance School at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi in March 2001.
 
In September 2001, he reported to USS Saipan (LHA 2) in Norfolk, VA.  While there, he was assigned to Aircraft Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) calibration laboratory in the IM3 Division.  He also earned his Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification.  Upon completion of his tour in August 2005, he served as a basic calibration instructor at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.  While assigned to CNATTU Keesler, he achieved his master training specialist qualification.
 
In March 2009, he reported to USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75).  While onboard he was assigned to AIMD Calibration Laboratory IM3 Division. He returned to CNATTU Keesler AFB in January 2012, and served as the advanced calibration school division officer.
 
In February 2015, he reported to pre-commissioning unit (PCU) Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), Newport News, Virginia.  In September 2015, West was selected to chief petty officer.  While attached to PCU Gerald R. Ford, he served as the Calibration Laboratory and Ground Support Equipment leading chief petty officer (LCPO).  In 2018, he was selected for senior chief.  In April 2019, he received orders to USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77).  While onboard, he was the IM4 LCPO, IM3 LCPO and Training Department LCPO. 
 
He reported to CNATTU Norfolk, Virginia, in June 2023.  He took over as assistant training officer in 2024. 
 
He began serving as senior enlisted leader at CNATTU Norfolk in April 2025.
 
His personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), Flag Letter of Commendation, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various campaign and service ribbons.
